As we prepare for our upcoming 6-12 Winter Concert on December 18, we continue to pull together musicians from across grade levels and disciplines. Here we have a terrific rehearsal of our calypso piece featuring Mr. Fuhs on electric bass, full band, some musicians from our independent music classes, and some leaders from within the middle school band, all working together to build skills and make music with the advice of NECC Director of Bands Mr. Kevin McLouth. Expect to see several staff members and a bunch of community musicians getting involved at the show as well! The fine arts department is grateful to the flexibility of teachers and administrators who permitted this group to rehearse together during the day. See you all at the show!

Reminder to Madison Fine Arts families: We have two opportunities to share our talents and spread holiday spirit on Sunday, December 7: Band kids can come and play carols at the Madison Arts Center (110 E 4th Street) at 1:30pm, and carolers can come sing at the pool house at Barnes Park Arboretum for Holidazzle at 7:00pm. Winter pep season has begun!! Thank you to the musicians who came in from practice sweaty and ready to play, left the court after your game and joined the band, cheered on the game before your big moment, and stayed late on a school night to bring energy and enthusiasm to last night's contest. Your community loves you and appreciates your effort!

One Act Competition Wrap-Up

We’ve officially wrapped up our One Act competition season, and I couldn’t be prouder of our cast and crew. Over the past few weeks, our students have poured their energy, time, and creativity into bringing this show to life. They handled long rehearsals, early call times, quick turnarounds, and the pressures of competition with professionalism and heart.

Each performance showed real growth—stronger delivery, tighter staging, and a deeper understanding of the story we set out to tell. More importantly, our students supported one another every step of the way, celebrating wins, navigating challenges, and representing our program with integrity.

Thank you to everyone—students, families, and staff—who helped make this season possible. We are grateful, proud, and already excited for what’s next!
