Heading into Holiday Break
As the Holidays approach there is a feeling of excitement to have a break from school and spend time with family and friends. Before I jump into a review of how the season is progressing I want to wish to whomever may be reading this a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! All across the board our entire team has had a busy last two weeks, reserve has played 2 games, JV has played 3, and the Varsity has played 4 games against tough competitive teams. As managers, players, and coaches we have learned a lot about ourselves and will continue to work on our skills and approach every day with an enthusiastic attitude to get better.
The Varsity is currently 1-6 as a team and a couple of stats we are focusing on are points forced per quarter, points allowed per quarter, offensive rebounds allowed per quarter, assists forced per game, & winning the turnover battle. As a team we are averaging 36 points a game and allowing 52 points per game. Our opponents are averaging 13 offensive rebounds a game and we would like to see that number under 10. We average 6 assists per game and will work on improving to 10 or more a game. In 2 game this season we have won the turnover battle meaning that we forced more turnovers than gave up turnovers. In the game that we prevailed victorious over St. Ed we met most of our goals and won the game so we feel if we continue to focus on these goals the wins and losses will take care of themselves and if we give great EFFORT, ATTITUDE, & TOUGHNESS each and every game we cannot hang our heads and will be proud of our performance.
Once again we will be hosting our Holiday Tournament on the 28th and 29th of December here at Madison High School. The four teams that will be in the tournament this year are Burwell, Elgin Public Pope John, Emerson-Hubbard and your Madison Lady Dragons. We will play Burwell first in the Holiday Tournament on the 28th at 12:45pm here at the High School. Burwell is a quality C-2 team that will give us a great opportunity to compete against an aggressive team and help us improve ourselves. Thank you all for your support and Go Lady Dragons!
